Online Safety is everyone's responsibility.
In school, we teach children to be risk aware and to help them manage risks when using online platforms. We do this, because we know that we cannot always guarantee that when using devices at home or outside of school, the correct controls and filters are in place to protect them.
In school, we use a filtering and monitoring system called NETSWEEPER, this is managed by Lancashire Digital Education, JTRS and the Online Safety Lead in school Mr Blackburn. This filtering system provides blocks and checks on inappropriate searches made on school devices. Weekly reports are sent to school which contain the username, the computer port and the search word which has been flagged. These are then checked and any inappropriate searches are discussed with the children concerned and copies of the searches are sent home to parents so they can follow up this discussion at home.
In order to help parents with this, we have teamed up with Knowsley CLC to provide you with parental support documents and presentations which help you to become more risk aware at home. Online safety newsletters can be found in the main Newsletter section of this website or in the star below.
