Class information

Our current topic is based on 'What is Special about God's World?' Our big question is:

'What can you see if you go down to the woods today?'

The focus of this topic is the great outdoors, the seasons, plants and nature.

Please see the full Learning overview below for further details.

PE days - Tuesday and Wednesday

Every Wednesday your child will bring home their reading books, to be read, commented on and to be returned the following Monday. This allows us to be able to quarantine the books.

As EYFS children spend time outside in all weathers. If you have a spare pair of wellies, please send them into school.

Reading books to be changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday for Year 1.

Year 1 homework will be a mixture of remote learning on Google Classroom and work sent home on Fridays to complete for the following Friday. All children will be expected to read daily at home as well as in class.

All children have login details attached to their reading books; for Oxford Owl E-Books, Numbots and Mathletics (Year 1 only).

Please keep checking our web page and our parent noticeboard to find out what is going on in our class this year.

A Walk to Bluebell Wood May 2021

We had a fantastic time on the 18th May 2021, when we had a walk to Bluebell Woods. We were lucky to have cool but dry weather, the perfect weather for a ramble.

It was great to walk over the fields we can see from the playground. We created dens in groups with twigs and branches, perhaps you could do this with your family?

We needed the lovely picnic after all the walking and activities we have done. When we were tired we rested on the parachute and listened to the birds song. We managed to save enough energy to run down the hill (Several times!)

It was very kind of Farmer Phil to use his fields to let us have a walk and it was great to see Bluebell woods when we ate our lunch. We hope you enjoy the pictures and videos, we all have great memories from this day.

In May 2021, we went for a walk to look for signs. We read them together and found out lots of information about our local area.

A visit from Aaminah's mum Mrs Ali

Mrs Ali came to school and talked to us about the Muslim Faith. We learnt about how to celebrate Ramadam and Mrs Ali gave us all dates to try, they were delicious!

Church Visit April 2021

We walked to church and had a good look around. We learnt that this is a special place and a place for Celebrations and Worship.

We learnt the correct names for parts of the building and the objects in it. We hope that we can soon visit here and celebrate a service together.

Harry's mum Mrs Book, kindly came into school and spent an afternoon telling us all about Bees. We learnt so many facts about bees. Bees can scratch the back of their head with their legs, WOW!

We had the chance to look at a real hive, and Harry modelled the clothing bee keepers need to wear.

At the end of the talk, we were able to see at first hand live bees in a glass container, and taste different types of honey.

It really made us appreciate how hard bees work, and how amazing they are.

Signs of Spring Walk March 2021

We have been lucky to be able to see so many signs of Spring, both in and around the school grounds. The pond is full of new life with the appearance of Frogspawn. We will be visiting the pond regularly to see the changes.

It is great to see how our surroundings are busting into life.

Our Worship Area

Our Worship Area is a special place where we can read Bible stories, sit and say prayers. We help other people by supporting the food bank.

EYFS school trip to the farm. Mrs Maidens and Mrs Devine wanted to bring all the animals back to school and keep them as pets! What a wonderful day!

Class 1 went across the road to Church to sing to Little Angels. We even took our teddy bears seeing as we were singing about a teddy bears picnic!

Year 1 did a fantastic job of sewing their own puppets. Well done!

If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise...EYFS and Year 6 buddies teddy bear picnic!
