Learning Together

Class 1

Academic Year 2021-2022

Class 1 is taught by Mrs Maidens.

Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Holroyd who works with us every day. In addition Miss Porter-Brown on Tuesday afternoons and Mrs Wells on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

In our class we have 30 children altogether. There are 20 EYFS and 10 Year One children.

Year 1 children are taught every morning for Phonics, English, Maths and Worship by Mrs Marshall.

After lunch they come back to join Class 1 to learn lots more new and exciting things.

Class information

Our current topic is based on the big question which is:

'Why do we love to be beside the seaside?'

The focus of this topic is looking at local seaside holidays in the past and the present day.

Please see the full Learning overview below for further details.

PE days - Tuesday and Friday

Every day your child will bring home their reading books, to be read, commented on and to be returned the following day. This allows us to be able to change the books.

As EYFS children spend time outside in all weathers. If you have a spare pair of wellies, please send them into school.

Year 1 reading books are taken in on a Thursday and returned on Friday.

Year 1 homework will be a mixture of remote learning on Google Classroom and work sent home on Fridays to complete for the following Friday. All children will be expected to read daily at home as well as in class.

All children have login details attached to their reading books; for Oxford Owl E-Books, Mathletics and Numbots (year 1 only)

Please keep checking our web page and our parent noticeboard to find out what is going on in our class this year.

Learning Overview Summer 2022

EYFS September 2021

We have been lucky to be able to see so many signs of Spring, both in and around the school grounds. The pond is full of new life with the appearance of Frogspawn. We will be visiting the pond regularly to see the changes.

It is great to see how our surroundings are busting into life.

Our Worship Area

Our Worship Area is a special place where we can read Bible stories, sit and say prayers. We help other people by supporting the food bank.

Believing, Learning and Sharing Together

We have been exploring our Christian Values in school and have chosen to show these in our Class Worship area. We try to show compassion courage, humility, joy, responsibility and love as well as many more values everyday, in and out of school. We try hard to be the best people we can be!

Here is the Powerpoint presentation we use in our parents' presentation about how we teach Phonics in school.
