Class 1

 

Academic Year 2023-2024

  • Class 1 is taught by Mrs Higgins Monday to Thursday and Miss Porter-Brown on Fridays.
  • Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Holroyd who works with us every day. In addition Mrs Wells helps on Thursday and Friday afternoons.  
  • In our class we have 27 children altogether. There are 19 EYFS and 8 Year One children.

 

 

 

  • Year 1 children are taught every morning for Phonics, English, Maths and Worship by Mrs Marshall.
  • After lunch they come back to join Class 1 to learn lots more new and exciting things.

Our visit with a Zoo Lab Ranger!

We had so much fun learning about habitats, diets and behaviours. 

The creatures we met; A Corn Snake, A White Tree Frog, A Rat, A Giant African Land Snail, A Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and A Chilean Rose Tarantula.

Little Angels Visit - 12th December 2023

We enjoyed our visit to Little Angels this afternoon. We sang some of our favourite Christmas songs including one we have been practicing for our Christmas Play.

Vegan Gingerbread Recipe

In class, We have been looking at the Ginger Bread Man Story. 

We have enjoyed doing lots of activities including acting it out in our Puppet theatre, designing our own Gingerbread Man and writing ingredients list for our Gingerbread men cookies.

War Memorial Mellor - 13th November 2023

On the 13th November, We walked to our local War Memorial with our buddies, Year 1 and Year 2. 

We joined together to say a silent prayer to remember the sacrifices made by people in times of war. We honour this day and pay tribute to those who selflessly served their country. 

Lest we forget

Building Guy Fawkes - 3rd November 2023

In Class, We have been learning about the Gunpowder plot and Guy Fawkes. 

We had the opportunity to make a Guy Fawkes for our schools bonfire on Saturday. 

Our Puppet Theatre

Our Worship Area is a special place where we can read Bible stories, sit and say prayers. We help other people by supporting the food bank.
