NOTIFICATION OF UNAVOIDABLE CLOSURES

There are times during the school year (190 days) when school may have to close due to unforeseen circumstances. These closures are taken as a last resort measure after every attempt has been made to keep the school open.

Below is a list of possible reasons for closure.

In the event of another/future Coronavirus outbreak 

Our school will only be closed if one or more of the following conditions apply:

  • Multiple confirmed case of coronavirus involving pupils or staff reported and PHE direct school to close.
  • National directive from the Government.

 

Steps taken to decide on whether to close the school will be as follows:

  • Head teacher will liaise PHE, Local Authority/ Diocese of Blackburn and Chair of Governors. A joint decision will be made whether school should be open or not.
  • The decision to open school, or not, will be communicated to staff and parents via:
  • The school website
  • Email
  • Local Authority and local media websites.
  • Decisions will be made and communicated before 3pm each subsequent day

 

Your child's education is important and we will be setting lessons via Google Classroom.

SHORT TERM:

If we need to close school for a day parents will be informed as soon as possible through school email, school website and/or phone call, from either the school Bursar or Headteacher. A message will be put out through local radio (BBC Lancashire)

 

In the event of an emergency closure / evacuation, school will relocate initially to St Mary Church on Church Lane. Parents will be informed by school email, school website and/or phone call, from either the school Bursar or Headteacher. A message will be put out through local radio (BBC Lancashire)

 

LONG TERM:

If the school remains closed for an extended period of time, arrangements will be made through the LA and Diocese to relocate to the nearest cluster school St Leonards Balderstone, or other vacant LA/ Diocese Building.

Where the reason for closure is a pandemic, School will notify parents of the current public health guideline as soon as possible and ask parents to follow the treatment/guidelines suggested by LA and Public Health Service.
