We share life with people around us by talking to them about things that matter to us, and to them. In the same way, we share life with God by talking to him about things that matter to us and to him. Even though we can't see God we can talk to him through prayer.
(extract from What every Child Should Know About Prayer by Nancy Guthrie)
At Mellor St Mary we actively encourage children and staff to use prayer in their every day lives. It might be to say thank you, to say sorry, pray for others or to praise - whatever the reason God wants us to talk to him.
This year, we have taken part in a number of Great Big Live Assembly worship events, which have been live streamed across the country.
One pupil has been so inspired by these worships, that he has composed his own prayers which have also been used at great Big Live Assembly times.
Harry's Prayer for Black History Month
Dear God,
Please let everybody be treated the same, because no one deserves to be treated differently to others.
Everyone is loved fairly and should be treated fairly too.
In God's eyes everyone is seen, loved and cared for.
Please let people know that no matter their skin tone, we are all loved the same.
Amen
Harry's Prayer for World Refugee Month
Dear God, Please let us remember how lucky we are to have families, friends and homes with a warm roof over our head, but mostly peace. Let us remember that every second in our lives is important and that everything has a meaning and has a purpose.
I ask this in the Lord's name.
Amen
We have been working with Rhema and her friends from the PAIS team to set up and use prayer stations around school. 'LOVE' has been the focus for the different stations positioned around school and our children have really enjoyed sharing their thoughts, wishes and prayers based on our core value.
