School Day

Our School day officially starts at 8:45am. All children are expected to arrive well before this, as the school gate opens at 8:30am for morning activities. The gate is closed at 8:45am prompt and all external doors locked.

If you arrive after this time, you must escort your child through to the main entrance and sign them in using the Late Record. This record is checked on a regular basis and follow up meetings are held with the Headteacher for those families who are persistently arriving late to school.

If your child is absent for any reason, you must telephone school as soon as possible, giving the child's name, class, and reason for their absence. This then must be followed up with a signed letter on their return to school.

We do not encourage any form of appointments being made during the school day, however, we do recognize and appreciate that there may be times when this is the only time a doctor, dentist, speech therapist etc has an appointment. Therefore, if you need to collect your child for a specific appointment, you must sign the Pupil In/Out log and notify the school office of the reason.

The Headteacher along with the LA Attendance Officer complete regular checks on all pupil attendance. Currently any pupil whose attendance falls below 96% (national average) will be monitored. If for any reason their attendance continues to decline below 90%, then they will be classed as 'Persistent Absence.' This will then trigger a letter from the Headteacher and possibly an informal meeting in order to plan a way of improving the pupil's attendance. There may be times when the LA Attendance Officer is needed to be present at these meetings.

School officially finishes at 3:15pm, whereby all children who are not in regular after school care or school clubs are collected from the playground. If you are running late, please can you ring school so that we can reassure your child that you are on the way and they do not get too distressed or upset. Children not collected at 3:15pm will be placed in After School Club (ASC) and a charge of £8 per child will be made to your Parent Pay account. School will contact you via the emergency contact numbers provided. Please can you ensure that these are kept up to date.
