Reading and Phonics

  • Phonics Play Comics. PhonicsPlay comics are decodable comics featuring familiar characters from PhonicsPlay along with some new friends. They are short, simple, silly comics that can be viewed on screen or printed out. They aim to provide opportunities for children to rehearse the precise knowledge and skills that they learn in school.

Phonics Play is a website which has hundreds of phonic activities suitable for EYFS and KS1 children.  Just type Phonics Play into Google.  EYFS children will enjoy and learn from activities on Phase 2 to Phase 4.  Year 1 children will enjoy and learn from Phase 5 activities, and Year 2 children should access Phase 6 games.

 

We would recommend all parents with children in EYFS, Y1 or Y2 join the Read with Oxford website.

The Read with Oxford Stages are designed to help you choose the best books to help your child learn to read.

It can be difficult to know exactly what level your child is reading at, so there is simple test on the website to help you quickly find out which Read with Oxford Stage suits your child best. Once you have found the right Stage for your child, you can explore a range of support and resources specially matched to them.

This is particularly helpful when choosing phonics based books. See link below.

 

 

  • Read with Oxford e books are free. To help your child develop their reading skills at home , hundreds more eBooks have been added to the Read with Oxford website so your child has more to read.
  • Epic Online Library Please see your email or remote learning class pages for class log in codes. Epic library is free.
