Learning Together

Computing Curriculum Map

In EYFS and KS1, computing knowledge is taught through the use of discrete and cross curriculum learning opportunities. Whilst in  KS2 computing knowledge is taught as in single year group discrete lessons using the Teach Computing curriculum. Further opportunities to embed this knowledge are then explored across the curriculum in themed learning involving other subjects.

The Teach Computing scheme of work has been designed as a spiral curriculum:

  • PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Upon returning to each key area, prior knowledge is utilised so pupils can build upon previous foundations, rather than starting again.
  • CYCLICAL: Pupils return to the key areas again during their time in primary school.
  • INCREASING DEPTH: Each time a key area is revisited it is covered with greater complexity.
