Making an application

Applications for admission to our school for September 2025 should be made between 1st September 2024 and  15th January 2025 (11:59pm) using Lancashire's online common application form available on the council’s website:

http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools

 

This online version is quick and easy to use and offers an email receipt of all submitted applications. Please ensure that you hit the "submit" button when you are ready to send in your completed online application.

If you live in Lancashire you can include out of area preferences on your online application. However, it is not normally possible to change the order of your preferences for schools after the closing date.

 

Parents 'must' complete the Local Authority application form, stating three preferences. Those who wish their application to this Church school to be considered against the faith criteria 'should' also complete the appropriate questions on the supplementary application form attached above or obtained from school. If we are oversubscribed, a failure to answer these questions may result in your application for a place in  being considered against a lower priority criteria as the Governing Board will have no information upon which to assess the worship attendance.

 

All applications to school are considered using the admission criteria set out in the school's policy. The same criteria is also used when school is over subscribed.

1. Children Looked After and previously looked after children.

2. Children with SEND needs which can only be met at this school.

3. Siblings who live within the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

4. Those who attend church / worship as part of Churches Together and live within the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

5. Those who live within the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

6  Siblings who live outside the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

7 Those who attend church / worship as part of Churches Together and live outside the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

8 Those who live outside the ecclesiastical parish boundary of Mellor.

 

Letters informing parents of whether or not their child has been allocated a place will be sent out by the Local Authority by 16 April 2025. Parents of children not admitted will be informed of the reason and offered an alternative place by the Local Authority.

 

If you wish to make an appeal for a place in EYFS, appeal applications must be made to the Local Authority stating your reasons for appealing a place at school. EYFS appeal applications must be made before the 28th February each year using the LCC Appeal E-FORM LCC E-FORM

 

If you wish to make an appeal for an in year place (i.e. Year 1-6), please contact school initially to discuss the matter with the Headteacher and then submit your application to the Local Authority using the LCC E-FORM LCC E-FORM. Further information about this can be found in the Appeal section of this website. Appeal hearings will be arranged by the Local Authority. 

 

Waiting lists for EYFS places are held for 12 months only. The Admission Policy criteria is applied to the waiting list - not first come first served.

Waiting lists for in year places for Y1-Y6 are held for the duration of the key stage applying for. The Admission Policy criteria for that particular academic year group is applied to the waiting list - not first come first served.
