Y5 and Y6 had a great time meeting Rev Richard Cole at his latest book launch at Westholme School
Last year they met Tim Peake and learnt all about his life as an astronaut and what it is like to stay on the International Space Station.
Sustainability Day : How our school is making a difference to our local environment and the world beyond.
Toy Sale:
This year's sale has raised an incredible £230 which has helped make the Children's Christmas parties go off with a bang ! Thank you so much
Remembrance
Charity Fund Raising:
This year we have supported Macmillan's and Cancer Research UK, the Bishop of Blackburn's Harvest Appeal, The Royal British Legion, BBC Children in Need, United Nations Save the Children, War Child and Blackburn Food Bank. We have raised a lot of awareness of these different causes and provided resources and money to help them create a better world for us all.
Thank you to all those who have provided their time, talents and financial contributions to all our fundraising this year.
Collective Prayers:
This year our school has taken part in a range of assemblies and worships looking at the impact of climate change on God's World and the important work the Sancturay Foundation does supporting those fleeing from conflict and hoping to find a new home. This has inspired quite a few children to create their own prayers. some of which have been shared as part of international worship. Here are just a few of them:
Harry's Prayer:
Dear God,
Please let everybody be treated the same, because no one deserves to be treated differently to others.
Everyone is loved fairly and should be treated fairly too.
In God's eyes everyone is seen, loved and cared for.
Please let people know that no matter their skin tone, we are all loved the same.
Amen
Freya's Prayer
Dear God,
Please help the people who have or are giving their lives for us. When my dad was in the army it was a hard time, he was transporting lots of tanks and things to help them power through the difficulties during the war. Please pray for the people in the past and now. May we all share peace. AMEN
