Covid Closure Information and Wider School Opening

Information on isolation

Due to a confirmed positive test in Class 5, children and staff are now isolating for 10 days. All families in Class 5 have been notified of the requirements for their child to stay at home and follow the latest COVID guidelines if they develop symptoms.

It is recommended, that all family members of children in Class 5 get PCR tests to ensure that the virus has not spread further.

The children and staff must remain in isolation until 23.59pm on Saturday 26th June 2021.

Due to a confirmed positive test in KS1. Class 1 and Class 2 children and staff are now isolating for 10 days. (25th May until 4th June). All families in EYFS and KS1 have been notified of the requirements for their infant child to stay at home and follow the latest COVID guidelines if they develop symptoms.

The time when people who have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) are infectious to others is from 2 days before the onset of symptoms to 10 days afterwards (or from 2 days prior to the date of their test to 10 days afterwards if they have had no symptoms)

Only people who came into contact with an individual who has had a positive test result for coronavirus (COVID-19) during this time need to be advised to self-isolate.

In this case only the children in Class 1 and Class 2 need to isolate - not their extended families unless they develop symptoms themselves.

 

Mellor St Mary COVID-19 MARCH 2021 Timetable

From Monday 8th March – school will reopen  for all pupils. Remote learning will still be used to support weekly homework tasks as well as provide lessons for children isolating at home.

 (See individual class timetables on Google Classroom).

 

We will  be operating staggered start and finish times for each 'bubble' in school. 

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE BUBBLE START TIMES AND ONLY ARRIVE 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR ALLOCATED TIME - this is to ensure that we are able to maintain a safe 2 metre waiting area for parents when dropping off and collecting children. 

 

Breakfast Club will be available from 7:50am and After School Club until 5:15pm

 Children's Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing 

It is imperative that children are encouraged and supported to look after their mental health, not just for a week but every single day.

 

Here are 5 tips for how you can improve your children and pupils' wellbeing

 

  • Step 1. "Teach them to be themselves" - Helping children to realise their strengths is a great way to build their confidence. Encourage children to notice and appreciate their own strengths, and those of others too.

 

  • Step 2: "Be grateful"- Help children to bring attention to what’s working well in their life by developing gratitude skills. To develop these skills, you can use techniques such as starting a gratitude journal or have a gratitude list discussion at breakfast/dinner.

 

  • Step 3: "Help them be more mindful"- A way in which we can help our children develop these skills is drawing for 10 minutes. Simply set a timer for 15 minutes and ask your child to draw something they can see. This activity isn’t about what the child decides to draw, it’s about whether they are able to focus on the activity and bring their attention back if they get distracted.

 

  • Step 4: "Be kind" - There are thousands of ways children and adults can show kindness every day, it can be fun to sometimes turn these small acts into every day rituals.

 

  • Step 5: "Teach them the importance of resilience" - One way to build resilience in children is to help them develop a growth mindset. Children with a strong mindset are more likely to try again when they fail, and also to attempt to learn how they can improve.
